There will more than likely come a time when you will want/need to edit the html code of your Blogger template.
Before you do that, you need to know –
The Golden Rule:
DO NOT EDIT THE HTML TEMPLATE CODE WITHOUT HAVING A CURRENT TEMPLATE BACKUP
Sorry for shouting that at you, I really cannot stress how important this step is though.
Should you make an error while making changes to the html template code, you need to have a current Backup on hand, so as to be able to restore it and fix it quickly, with as little down time and stress as possible.
Creating a backup is not hard to do and only takes a couple of minutes.
3 Simple Steps to Create a Backup of a Blogger Template
Assuming you are already logged into the Blogger dashboard …
1) Locate the blog you want to back up from the list of blogs available and click the More Options drop down arrow, to access the Template page.
2) Once you are on the Template page, at the upper right of the interface is a Backup/Restore button
3) Click the Backup/Restore button and you will get a modal window with an option to download the full template.
Make sure to save it to somewhere on your hard drive where you can find it to access it if you need it.
3 Simple Steps to Restore a Blogger Template from a Backup
Restoring from the backup is just as easy and a few of the steps are the same.
Assuming you are already logged into the Blogger dashboard …
1) Locate the blog you want to back up from the list of blogs available and click the More Options drop down arrow, to access the Template page.
2) Once you are on the Template page, at the upper right of the interface is a Backup/Restore button
3) When presented with the modal window, click the Choose File button, browse to the saved template backup file on your hard drive, select it and then click the upload button.
